Local Organizations Host Group for Dads of People with Disabilities

CHARLESTON, South Carolina — Five Fish Foundation, along with its partners, will host a free
support group for dads of people with disabilities. The event will be held both virtually and at the
Five Fish Foundation offices at 401 Seacoast Parkway in Mt. Pleasant on February 25th, 2021 at
six p.m. EST. The group is being formed to give dads an open and safe forum to discuss their
journeys and the challenges of being special needs parents. The first session will include opening
remarks from Anthony Sullivan, OxiClean spokesman and father of a special needs child.

The event, co-hosted by Lowcountry Autism Foundation and IEP Answers and presented by RCE
Enterprises, is the first in a planned ongoing series. The program will recur monthly and is free to
the public. Registrants can attend the event in person at the Five Fish Foundation offices or via
Zoom. The link will be provided discreetly to dads who sign up through Eventbrite. More
information about the event can be found on the Five Fish Foundation Facebook page.

Attendees will get to meet their peers, work through a group discussion on parenting a child with
a special needs, and experience an open forum to discuss their trials and successes in parenting.
IEP Answers CEO Scott Herman says, “Groups like this are very important. Dads of children with
special needs often face their issues silently, so to have a group where you can be open is so
valuable.”

“We want to bring people together. There aren’t many, if any, groups like this in our area. We
are happy to be able to provide this outlet for dads,” said Five Fish Foundation Founder Lisa
Leask.
